THE WEIRD TRANSFER WINDOW

The summer transfer window for the premier league officially closed on the 9th of august, 2018. The window, which was opened july 1st, 2018 lasted for only 40 days. That means, All premier league negotiations to register must be done in that given time. players may leave a premier league club now pending on the transfer window of the destinated club league but no english team can buy players to their club until the winter window opens in january.

The window has been full of schocking, overpriced transfers & desperation on the part of the bigger clubs. The main beneficiaries of the window happens to be clubs who wouldn't think twice before laying the cash down. A look at Liverpool, Everton, Fulham & Chelsea says it all. Liverpool & Chelsea both broke the world record fee for a goal keeper consecutively. though, Liverpools buy could be considered normal but chelsea's was out of desperation after losing courtois 2 days to the closing of the window. Liverpool rained the cash & spent more than $150M to sign only 4 players, Their merseyside counterpart also hit 9 figures in forming a formidable team. Manchester United & City must have had a rough ride, both spent lesser than liverpool combined. United were rejected by 5 players at the latter stage of the window but city signed mahrez although they lost jorginho to chelsea. Tottenham was the most sorry team, A team really skeptical about releasing transfer funds ended up signing no one. could it be because Daniel Levy is a scrooge???

The new boys Wolves & Fulham got busy during the window. while Fulham signed a complete starting 11 for 9 figures, wolves were busy accumulating portugese & portugese experienced players that they ended up surpassing benfica with the number of portugese players in their squad. Cardiff city & all other teams except west ham made migre additions. The Hammers really spent the cash this time around importing felipe anderson & co.
This is the first transfer window of it kind in England. so in coming years, we should expect to see more transfer dramas.
