Today in history: Manchester United broke and set a new record.


On 2nd of August 2014, Manchester United broke and set a new U.S attendance record of 109,318 at a preseason tour against Real Madrid. The previous record was 101,799 at the Rose Bowl in Pasedena when France beat Brazil to take Gold in the Olympic final of 1984.

Despite the Red Devils having a poor 2013/14 where they finished 7th on the EPL table, they managed to set a break the record of 101,799 of spectators for their match against Real Madrid at the beginning of the 14/15 season at the Michigan Stadium nicknamed THE BIG HOUSE.
Manchester United not only broke and set a new record for having the most spectators attending their match but the also had fun doing it by easing pass Real Madrid in a 3-1 victory with Ashley Young finding the back of the net twice in the 21st and 30th minute before Javier Hernández put the game to bed at the 8th minute.
