  1.  Real name, Eusébio da Silva Ferreira
  2.  Eusebio was born on 25 January 1942 in Maputo, Mozambique.
  3.  His parents were Laurindo António da Silva Ferreira, a black railroad worker from Malanje, Angola and Elisa Anissabeni, a black Mozambican woman.
  4. His father, Laurindo António da Silva Ferreira, a white Angolan railroad worker, died from tetanus when Eusébio was still an 8-year-old kid.
  5. At  15, Juventus of Italy, wanted to sign him  but his mother was not interested in the move'
  6. A couple of years later, a Benfica representative visited and told Eusebio's mum that her son could have a bright future as a footballer, she did give her blessing to that 'marriage'
  7. Eusébio was  called "The Black Panther" because of his speed and his "killer instinct"' (at his prime, it took him just 11 seconds to run 100 meters)
  8. In his 15 years as a Benfica player, he won won 11 Championship titles, five Portuguese Cup trophies, of course the 1962 European Cup, and countless personal honors, with the Ballon d'Or in 1965
  9. A year later  in England's World Cup finals in 1966, he led Portugal to the last four of the 1966 world cup  and finished the competition as the top scorer with 9 goals.  They fell to the hosts (England) in extra time.
  10. At age 33, Eusebio put an end to his Benfica career. He kept on playing but mostly in north America playing football for five more years, mostly in North America. 
  11. He played for; Sporting Lourenço Marques (1957-1960), Benfica (1960-1975), Rhode Island Oceaneers (1975), Boston Minutemen (1975), Monterrey (1975-1976), Beira-Mar (1976-1977), Toronto Metros-Croatia (1976), Las Vegas Quicksilver (1977), New Jersey Americans (1977-1978), União de Tomar (1977-1978), Buffalo Stallions (1979-1980).
  12. In total, he scored 580 goals in 575 matches for club football and 41 goals in 64 matches for portugal.
  13. Eusébio died in Lisbon in 2014, aged 71
